Privacy, terms and acceptable use

Privacy

• Your account: we keep your email, name, password hash (scrypt), plan and your links. We never sell data.
• Visitors who click a link: we do not set cookies and do not store IP addresses. We store the time, the country (looked up offline from the IP, which is then discarded), device type, operating system, browser family, the referring website's domain and the browser language. A daily-changing, random salt turns the IP and browser string into a short hash, so we can count unique visitors for a day without being able to follow anyone across days.
• Click details are kept 30 days on Free and about a year on paid plans, then deleted. Total click counts stay with the link.
• Email is sent through our email provider (Brevo); payments through Stripe. Each gets only what it needs.
• You can delete your account and links at any time from the Account page.
• Country data: IP to country by DB-IP (db-ip.com), licensed CC BY 4.0.

Terms

• Free links don't expire and don't show ads, as long as the account and link follow these rules.
• Paid plans renew monthly until you cancel in the billing portal. Prices may change with 30 days' notice.
• The service is provided as is. We work hard on uptime but can't promise it never goes down.

Acceptable use

You may not use smartUrl for: phishing or collecting passwords or payment details by deception; malware; scams or fraud; spam (unsolicited bulk messages); hiding the destination of another short link; illegal content; harassment; or content that sexualises minors. We check links against blocklists, may turn off any link or account that breaks these rules without notice, and cooperate with lawful requests.
